Rock Hounds
My family and I came in October for our second time to the Royal Peacock mine. Julie and Craig go above and beyond to make your experience be unforgettable. From the gift shop and facilities to their knowledge and helpfulness! Every person in our group found great rocks! My husband found several limb casts and fossilized wood pieces. My 7 year old son found 1 limb cast about 4x2 and 158 grams. We have Often thought of going to other places to look for rocks but the Experience you get from The Peacock is second to none and keeps bringing us back. We love and appreciate that the Royal encourages families and kids to join in on the fun. If you go to the Royal Peacock mine you won’t be disappointed!

My husband and I stayed at the Royal Peacock Mine at the end of June. We had an amazing time. Our rock hound guide (Craig) was very cool. He was knowledgeable and very friendly. The people who run the store were very hospitable. Thanks you for everything, we will be coming back.

Opening Day 2019
We got there noontime the day before opening a real nice weather. Next day we got up to cooler temperature. By noontime it started to rain off and on. Then at 2 pm it got to wet and cold to stay any Longer. On the way to truck in heavy mud I over hear a man said he had a flat tire to one of peacock personal. At when I said you got a flat? Well the other guess then look at me in the heavy rain and said YES. At when I told him I have built in compressor. So we got fix and we want back to camp soak to the bone and muddy. We left the 17th in morning to Laughlin, NV. We had a Great time . We are planning to come back in Sept.

Thank you Julie
My wife saw a program on TV about someplace in the middle of nowhere called the Royal Peacock Opal Mine, her Birthstone is Opal and I have listened to her go on about this place for a few years now and how she really wanted to go there. So finally I took her to visit the Royal Peacock on June 9th & 10th 2019. We had a great time there made some new friends, dug in the tailings, found a few small Opals. The campgrounds are very nice and quite, bathrooms were very clean and looked like new. I walked in and Julie greeted me by name even though we had never met and each time we saw her she did the same, she really makes you feel welcome. Checking in and checking out was so very easy. Julie you made our 2 days there so enjoyable, thank you so much. We will be back. At the Mine site Craig was onsite to answer any questions we had and was always quick to assist if we need any help, he truly enjoys what he is doing there. If you are reading this and have the smallest inkling about going to the Royal Peacock then I say YES you should go and have a fun and educational time.

2 Friends & I came up the the Royal Peacock in mid July 2017 & we were the only ones there for 3 days doing any mining! We mined in the Tailings with Pui

Had a totally awesome time & came away with some beauties in opals & even found Petrified Wood in our own explorings! I had so much fun, I'm returning in October this year with my daughter who has no idea where I'm taking her!!! Her birthstone is the Opal & it'll be an amazing way to celebrate her birthday with her!!! Going to make this a yearly tradition with my other 2 friends

We planned this trip in 1998, and it finally came to fruition. We dug the bank, both found small pieces, but Bob found a black opal limb cast ! Enjoyed the trip, we will definitely return to dig another day. Bring mosquito repellant!

First time but not last
I have wanted to do this since I first saw it on tv, (cash and treasures)Decided to go on a whim memorial weekend 2017. We arrived and they were so nice! They had a BBQ that weekend. They all treated us like family. We didn't have any equipment and they had stuff there. Some free some rentals. My husband found a small piece(no color) but we did learn a lot and plan on going again soon! Thank you

Anniversary Trip June 6, 2017
We did not know what to expect when we drove across the country to dig opals at the Royal Peacock Mine.
We arrived in the evening and camped the night before we dug. The camp has a clean restroom/shower and nice laundry facilities.
Our evening view was looking through a gap in the mountains. We were serenaded each night by a babbling stream and wonderful, deep bullfrogs! One evening coyotes joined causing several campers to echo the howls.
The next morning, a smiling Pui took us to the banks to dig. Listen to the comments on how difficult this is. Do not deceive yourself into thinking you will go and come home with pounds of opals. This is much about meeting people and experiencing something new. Pui was WONDERFUL! He is a fountain of endless smiles and energy and often helps. We dug up two large petrified and opalized pieces of wood and several other smaller opals. To be honest, I do not really know what they are, but Julie said we did well. She showed us how to glue them. I just do not know what to do next!
We had a relaxing, exciting trip. Julie was friendly and interesting to visit with. I enjoyed the wild roses, starlit nights, and beautiful views. We had a wonderful, different anniversary trip! Thank you, Peacock Opal Mines and staff.

Rock Star Weekend!
We three gals showed up for our second ever mining expedition and had a great time at Royal Peacock Opal Mines! Staying at the cabin was fantastic (video posted on Facebook soon). Piu obviously loves what he does and freely shared knowledge with these newbies. Other visitors - dedicated and talented rockhounds - also offered advice (thanks Rob and Kevin!). Primarily, it was simply hard work and tons of fun! We came away from some amazing pieces - especially one in our group who unearthed a fabulous piece!
Thank you, Julie for your time and suggestions. We had a wonderful time!
