i remember coming out to the ranch with bob and pat klineschmidt and had a lot of fun digging opal and exploring the high country above the ranch. i was at the rock shop when the big log was found and it was in the water trough and my son said dad there is fire coming out of the water and everyone came out of the rock shop with cameras and i was asked to lift it out of the water and it was just spectacular. i guess slim ended up with it but bob was going nuts and wanted to go to reno to get a large sum of money but pat said no. that was over 20 sum years ago and i miss the valley and hope to come back and dig and swim in the hot spring.

I would love to take a trip and stay a while to clear my mind and maybe find some opals. The war in Iraq and Afghanistan has really put alot of pressure on me and my family i think it may be a great place to rejuvenate our spirits. looking forward to coming in may

Can't wait for you to open in 2015. A friend of mine told me about you. He was actually very excited when you talked and got me keen.

While traveling in NV, I found an article in the book "Treasures of Nevada". I found your site to be very informative and interesting. I can only hope that I will be able to return and include your mine in my itinerary.
It sounds really great. I will take a closer look at your treasures when I return home.

We had a fantastic time, a true memory maker for our family! We spent a day, two on the wall, two in the tailings. We found some wonderful pieces in both places. We spent the night in the cabin, so glad we did. Accommodations were rustic and great. Julie and Jake are so warm and friendly. Pui is such an awesome person, really glad for his assistance and conversation! Regrets? Only one, that we couldn't stay another day and night! We will be back!

Spent the Afternoon with family prospecting at the wall. Best time and money spent in a long time. Only wish we had known and scheduled more time on our trip. Everybody is so positive and helpful and Pui is just a plain nice guy.

Spent 3 nights comfortably tent camping at the Peacocks well run facility. Spent 1 day at the wall and 1 day in the tailings. The wall gave us nothing but a tough education in the world of opal minining, but the tailings rewarded us with a variety of precious and common opal specimens. However, Terry had her dreams rewarded by finding a black fire opal limbcast roughly 3 inchs long by 1/2 inch wide with only minutes left in the tailings. Had a great time, thanks to all the staff for their hospitality and guidance.

Just got back for digging in tailings Sunday. Had a great time and found 5 pieces of fire opal and few other interesting pieces. The Staff was great from Julie in the shop to Pui out in field! Plan on going back asap!
Thanks for great time!

We appreciated the friendly owners and the great information that they shared with us. We enjoyed going along with a school group to the mine and watching the kids dig in the tailings. Several children found opals. We hope to return and dig for opals!
