1. Acceptance of Terms By accessing this website and participating in activities at Royal Peacock Opal Mines (the “Mine”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
2. Mining Rules and Regulations Safety is our top priority. By entering the mining area, you agree to strictly adhere to the following rules:
Safety Gear: All guests in the mining area must wear hard-toed or closed-toe shoes. Open-toed shoes are strictly prohibited.
Bank Digging Requirements: Guests digging in the bank must wear hard hats and safety glasses.
Age Restrictions: Children 12 and under are free with a paid adult but are not allowed to dig in the bank for safety reasons.
Tools: No mechanical tools are allowed on the mine site.
Pet Policy: Pets must be kept on a leash at all times and cleaned up after. There are no open areas for pets to roam freely.
3. Fee Digging and Ownership
“Yours to Keep”: All opals you find are yours to keep.
Pricing: Bank digging is $210 per person/day. Tailings digging is $85 per person/day.
Check-In: All guests must sign in at the Gift Shop before entering the mining area.
Discounts: Discounts are available for veterans and seniors (65+) with valid ID.
4. Assumption of Risk and Liability Mining is a physical activity that involves inherent risks, including but not limited to falling rocks, uneven terrain, and the use of sharp tools.
Bank Mining: You acknowledge that bank mining involves working with ground that has never been moved and requires care to avoid “under-cutting” the bank, which can create dangerous rock-fall conditions.
Waiver: By participating in digging activities, you assume all risks associated with the activity including wildlife encounters. Royal Peacock Opal Mines is not liable for personal injury or lost property.
5. Lodging and Camping
Accommodations: We offer an RV park, dry camping, and furnished lodgings. Accommodations are rustic.
Check-In: Guests must check in at the Gift Shop upon arrival or if arriving after hours follow instructions on packet left at the rockshop.
6. Payments We accept cash and all major credit cards. Please be aware that a fee applies to all credit card transactions.
7. Seasonal Operations Our season generally runs from May through October, opening and closing days change yearly, weather permitting. Hours of operation are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM daily. We reserve the right to close the mine due to inclement weather or safety concerns without prior notice.
8. Governing Law These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of Nevada. The mine is physically located in Virgin Valley, Nevada.
